    Hazel Newlevant’s “Curio Vol. 1”

“Curio vol. 1″ is a collection of short comics themed around some of Hazel Newlevant’s favorite topics: pharmaceutical, sexual, and formal experimentation. Many have weird constraints like anagrams, word ladders, or repurposing other comics; inspired by the French experimental comics group OuBaPo.

    5.5 x 8.5″, 24 pages. $4.
Saddle-stitched binding. Recycled cover stock with b&w interior.

  • I just reprinted “Curio,” the collection of comics I did in my first year at SVA. Now it’s bound with staples instead of hand-sewn, so it’s cheaper!

  • My comic Ci Vediamo has now been printed, thanks to a 2012 Xeric Grant! I’m so excited to finally realize my vision for this book. These photos to showcase the die-cut cover and vellum pages.

If you’d like to order a copy, you can do so via newlevant.com. If you’re a retailer, place an order through my sales rep Tony Shenton at shenton4sales@aol.com.

  • Hazel got a Xeric for this puppy and I’m sure you can see why. Stellar stuff.

  • Update on Ci Vediamo!

I was extremely flattered that this comic made a few Best of 2012 lists: Poopsheet Foundation’s Best Mini-Comics & Small Press Titles of 2012, and J.T. Yost’s Favorite Comics of 2012.

Also, Ci Vediamo is now available from Last Gasp, and soon to be available from Birdcage Bottom Books! So now you have even more options for how to buy it.

Thank you all for your support! It means a lot to hear that people like the book. More fabulous mini-comics to come in 2013.

“Ci Vediamo” is an Italian goodbye. Literally, it means “We’ll see each other.” Ci Vediamo the mini-comic is a wordless story of love, loss and moving on. The comic uses overlapping vellum pages to tell the story, and vellum is a pain to print in a copier, so I’m particularly glad to have support in publishing this comic. I’ve been working with my friend Charles at Eberhardt Press on the printing, and it should be done by the end of July.
Here’s an example of the vellum paper:
